We are hiring a

Quality Engineer - Aerospace

for Lorien, located onsite in Newburyport, Mass.

Contract starts as a 6‑month W2 with potential for permanent employment. Pay is negotiable at $80‑95/hr with health benefit options.

Base pay range $80.00/hr - $100.00/hr

Required Experience

Mechanical inspection with GD&T, AS9102 FAIRs, or EPICOR quality transactions

Strong background in aerospace/defense quality systems (AS9100, ISO 9001)

Test and inspection method development and execution of test method validations

Expertise in root cause analysis, SPC, and APQP tools (PFMEA, control plans)

U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder

Key Responsibilities

Develop and drive measurable quality improvements for products and processes

Perform First Article Inspections (FAIRs) in aerospace and defense with strong GD&T skills

Inspect and test materials, equipment, processes, and products to meet quality specifications

Create test and inspection methods and validate them

Collaborate to develop and implement quality controls and improvements

Ensure the QMS conforms to customer, internal, industry (AS9100, ISO 9001, ISO 13485), and regulatory/legal requirements

Engage and support shop floor personnel and manufacturing defect prevention teams to ensure alignment on top priorities, facilitating containment, root cause analysis, and corrective action within closed‑loop process controls

Lead APQP initiatives (PFMEA, control plans, SPC, etc.), perform verification/validation of improvements, and facilitate defect prevention

Integrate product and process verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes

Qualifications

Knowledge of root cause analysis, data analysis, and SPC concepts

Experience with first article inspection reports (FAIRs), quality monitoring, and leading root‑cause corrective actions in cross‑functional environments

Manufacturing process knowledge with quality systems and industry technical standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, AS9102), interpreting drawings, work instructions, BOMs, consumable materials control, process disciplines, and tool control

Experience with APQP/AS9145; utilizing tools such as PPAP, Key Characteristics, DFMEA, PFMEA, and control plans

Expertise in GD&T and blueprint interpretation

Nice to Have

Familiarity with using Epicor in production for production and DMRs (Discrepant Material Reports)
