The Position

AMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Subject Matter Expert (Guardian Radar Specialist)-Senior. The salary range of this position is $100,000.00 – $165,000.00 and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for remote work; on‑site support is required.

A typical day as a Subject Matter Expert (Guardian Radar Specialist)-Senior may include:

Provides safety critical engineering services for the Atlantic Test Range Guardian systems

Supports the design, development, documentation and testing of all components that make up the Guardian System Software Suite, Military Command and Control System

Assists the Guardian software development team in evaluating Guardian UAV Detect and Avoid System

Applies tactical knowledge to support Guardian customer training objectives, software test activities and regression test cycles

Conducts Guardian subject matter research, analysis, correlation, assessments and troubleshooting to include reporting

Assists in the development/maintenance of sensor coverage files based on sensor performance and siting specifics

Participates as a voting member of the Guardian Change Control Board (CCB)

Develops/Maintains Guardian training documentation materials

Participates in Guardian on‑site surveys and installations

Must-haves

BS/BA Degree

8 years of relevant work experience

8 years of experience with Military Command and Control

Experience with Special Use Airspace (SUA)

Experience with Air Traffic Control as a military service member

Experience with Control Tower & Airfield Operations

The ability to effectively organize, prioritize, schedule and complete tasking across several efforts

Experience using the documentation management tool SharePoint

The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Skills

Experience with Air Traffic Control Facility Management (instructor, curriculum development, facility and procedure oversight, inspection, post‑incident investigation, reporting, etc.)

Experience with radars systems (performance and functional implementation, Sensor Systems, Data Processing, Display Systems, etc.)

Experience supporting UAS platforms

Experience performing software testing and training

Experience developing training curriculum

College level education in Aviation including Unmanned Systems

Physical Environment And Working Conditions

The physical environment for this position requires the employee to work in an office, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday. Work is physically comfortable. The employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc. The employee may be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site or near the work site. Overnight travel will be required.
