Description of Work
Organize and maintain medical records in both paper and electronic formats.
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accreditation, certification, and licensure requirements.
Oversee medical records staff in daily operations, verify completion of mandatory training, and provide orientation and supervision for all newly hired employees.
Review medical records for completeness and accuracy; refer any discrepancies to attending physicians or the medical director for resolution.
Obtain necessary documentation, such as signatures, electrocardiographic tracing, pathology reports, and other relevant information to ensure integrity of the electronic medical record.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment.
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
Travel and overtime based on operational needs.
Telework: Not available in this position.
Salary: Starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
Qualifications
Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or
Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or
Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
