Shipping and Receiving Associate 1st Shift
The Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for incoming and outgoing shipments. This position ensures accurate and timely receipt and shipment of products. It is also responsible for updating inventory records in accordance with company policies and procedures. Prepares corresponding documentation for incoming and outgoing shipments and updates records in the system accordingly.
Essential Functions
Ensures receipt and unloading of incoming shipments of materials, supplies, parts, and products.
Inspect and verify the accuracy of incoming shipments against purchase orders, invoices, and other documentation.
Counts and tracks received items, updates inventory records, investigates and resolves discrepancies.
Putaway incoming materials, maintains inventory accuracy and performs cycle counts.
Prepares bills of lading and corroborates orders to ascertain quantities, destination, and routing.
Ensures shipping items meet packing standards and requirements and documents finished process using photographs.
Collaborates with other warehouse staff and departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials and products, including loading of trucks.
Uses hand scanners and computer software and systems to record and track shipments and inventory data.
Operates material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to move and stack items in the warehouse.
General Functions
Collaborates with other members of the production team to ensure that deadlines are met, and products are delivered on time.
Consistently abides by established safety rules, procedures, and regulations including wearing required safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses.
Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
Identifies and reports quality or safety issues to supervisor or manager.
Works effectively with co‑workers and supervisors, sharing knowledge, resources, and experience to achieve production goals in a timely fashion, while promoting respect, communication, and teamwork.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Attention to detail: The ability to accurately inspect and verify incoming shipments and record inventory data is essential.
Time management skills: The ability to work efficiently and prioritize tasks is important to ensure timely and accurate receipt and processing of incoming shipments.
Communication skills: Good verbal and written communication skills are important to work effectively with other warehouse personnel, as well as vendors and other departments.
Organizational skills: The ability to keep track of inventory levels, discrepancies, and system updates in an organized and systematic manner is important.
Computer skills: Familiarity with computer systems and software, such as Microsoft Office and inventory management software, is necessary.
Basic math skills: Basic arithmetic skills are necessary for accurately counting inventory and ensuring that quantities are recorded correctly.
Attention to safety: The ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines when using equipment is important to maintain a safe work environment.
Follow directions: The ability to follow established procedures while performing tasks, using tools, and handling materials.
Dependability: Reliability and consistency of attendance, punctuality, and completion of assigned tasks according to established standards and expectations with little supervision.
Preferred Education And Experience
A high school diploma/GED, or equivalent work experience.
At least one year of previous experience in a warehouse environment.
Experience with inventory management using computer systems equivalent to SysPro is preferred.
Previous experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks is preferred.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Physical dexterity: The employee must bend, twist, and reach while handling tools and equipment. The employee is also required to stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, and hear.
Lifting: The employee must lift and move boxes weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and boxes weighing up to 80 lbs occasionally, with help of other employees.
Vision: The vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Endurance: The employee must stand for extended periods of time and perform physical tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Exposure to elements: The employee works in a warehouse environment and may be exposed to varying temperatures and inclement weather conditions. Frequent exposure to dirt and dust.
Noise level: The employee is exposed to moderate noise levels in the workplace for the majority of the day, due to the constant use of forklifts and hand‑held power tools.
