Job Title Shipping / Receiving Forklift Operator
Job Purpose and Summary This position requires forklift operators to move product from the warehouse to trucks, perform trailer inspections, use scanners to manage loads, and ensure proper storage of all products.
Responsibilities
Move product from the warehouse to trucks based on pick lists, maintaining FIFO and ensuring correct product counts.
Perform trailer inspections and secure trucks before loading/unloading.
Use handheld scanners to complete loads, transfer product, and split pallets.
Properly report and handle damaged product and incoming materials.
Unload, unpack, and label materials before storage.
Work with team members to accurately place items in designated storage areas, observing temperature and allergen controls.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, keeping floors, racks, and docks clear of debris.
Follow all Food Safety and Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Support the supervisor or lead in ensuring procedures are followed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Duties and Time Allocation
75% Moving product from the warehouse to trucks, using pick lists and FIFO.
15% Completing paperwork, loading logs, and trailer inspection forms.
10% Keeping floors, racks, and docks clear of debris and maintaining outside area cleanliness.
Position Dimensions and Qualifications
Internal contacts: shipping manager, supervisor, lead person, clerk, stacking room personnel.
External contacts: truck drivers.
Education: High school diploma and basic math skills.
Experience: Some previous forklift operation experience.
Skills: Good oral and written communication, independent work capability, hand‑eye coordination, reliability, punctuality, and good safety habits.
Physical Demands: Requires walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, handling repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs), and climbing stairs.
Work Environment: Exposed to extreme cold/hot temperatures, high noise, wet floors; safety‑sensitive position.
Equipment: Forklifts and pallet jacks.
