CALTRANS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR II
– Caltrans District 3
Job Summary Under the direction of a Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor, operate and service vehicles requiring a Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank (N) endorsement while performing highway, structural, construction, and landscape maintenance work. When not operating equipment, assume additional duties outlined under Caltrans Equipment Operator I, Caltrans Highway or Landscape Maintenance Worker and other related highway maintenance work.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain heavy equipment and transportation vehicles.
Perform and document routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Maintain knowledge of mandatory safety training and departmental policies.
Comply with all training, safety procedures, and performance expectations.
May be assigned to other operational units or geographic locations as needed.
Overnight travel out of town up to 80% of the time may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
Class A commercial driver’s license with Tank (N) endorsement.
Valid unrestricted California driver’s license.
Drug screening passed prior to hiring.
Score on the Caltrans Equipment Operator II Examination.
Must be on the state examination list for new state civil service candidates.
Location 22412 Highway 26, West Point, Calaveras County.
