Overview
Set up and operate single hit punch presses to produce parts according to customer specifications. Will perform other duties as required, including press operation.
Assemble nests and dies to perform various single hit operations including float pierce, cushion pierce, semi blank, temp blank and various compounds using hand tools
Set and adjust clamps and stops
Position workpiece against backstop or manually align layout marks
Measure workpiece dimensions throughout to ensure quality and repeatability
Observe tool and machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
Visual inspection of first piece
Issue job and safely check in Press Operator once set up is complete
Collaborate quality control personnel and other team members to meet production targets and address any issues or concerns.
Follow all company safety and operations policies
Requirements
Proven experience at setting up single hit punch presses
Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
Experience working with ¼” thickness and thinner sheet metal
Ability to read blueprints and part routers
Identify metal material types and gauge thickness
Knowledge of how to select position and align dies in machine and confirm that they are properly secured.
