We are seeking a Shipping Clerk – Operator for 3rd Shift at our Auburn Hills, MI plant.

Work Schedule Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Position Summary

Provide service to the manufacturing operation regarding receiving and stocking for parts and raw materials by performing various tasks associated with evaluating receiving needs, obtaining, organizing, and generating proper documentation for items to be received, coordinating the physical movement of parts and materials, stocking in the right locations, updating receiving related systems, and monitoring material handling activities to ensure quality of service and internal customer delivery expectations.

Coordinate tasks of team members to execute material handling functions for receiving and warehouse by preparing, handling, organizing, loading, and unloading skids or packaged orders, verifying receiving data and paperwork, securing loads, and ensuring compliance with documentation or instructions.

Observe all safety and operational procedures, maintain required paperwork, safety logs, preventive maintenance logs, and checklists.

Communicate with the Supply Manager for approvals and maintain a sense of urgency toward efficiency, safety compliance, and quality.

Collaborate with Supply Chain Management to recommend changes that improve efficiency while ensuring employee safety, and maintain a positive team environment.

Employ strong interpersonal skills and professional communication with internal and external associates, customers, and suppliers.

Require assistance from coworkers when handling heavier items (pallets, skids up to 35 ft and 2000 lb).

Job may require overtime and a flexible schedule, including early reporting and late work, and weekend duties from time to time.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Coordinate and receive shipments, verify accuracy, check quality issues, and handle documentation including packing slips and delivery receipts.

Assist material handlers in moving and handling activities from receiving area to warehouse, stock materials in correct locations following a priority program.

Verify receiving data against physical shipment, identify additional parts, and obtain weight, dimensions, and description information.

Implement and lead cycle counts, investigate root causes of issues, and coordinate with different departments.

Inspect work, paper‑work, and ensure all items are signed off; update Macola system and production charts.

Generate labels for each received part or material with required information such as sales order number, supplier, customer name, date packed, and total of individual skids or boxes.

Determine storage space requirements and consolidate for stacking opportunities; work with supervisor and teammates.

Review receiving paperwork, coordinate staging and loading, take photographs, and establish quality issue actions per procedure.

Update Macola and production charts with receiving detail information; scan packing slips, coordinate transport and delivery to appropriate areas.

Maintain a physical file at the work area for a minimum of 30 days in case of discrepancies.

Operate equipment such as forklift, cart, and hand trucks as needed.

Train new employees, facilitate corrective action procedures, and apply safety and company policies.

Report and document injuries or safety incidents per company policy.

Maintain open communication lines between management and workers.

Required Education And Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

Minimum of 1 year related work experience.

Minimum of 1 year shipping & receiving experience (preferred).

Self‑motivated with basic math skills.

Knowledge of inventory systems.

Capable of using scan guns and ERP software.

Detail‑oriented.

Hi‑Lo certified or able to become certified operating lift equipment.

Required Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Sort and classify items; read and write; interpret manufacturing paperwork, diagrams, and shop documents; record information on provided forms; communicate safety, understand instructions and work directions. Perform simple math calculations and be aware of and observe quality requirements. Safely perform manual work using both manual and powered hand tools (e.g., steel cutters).

Physical Demands Frequently walking; using hands and fingers to handle or feel, operate, activate, inspect, place, detect, position, grasp, and squeeze. Frequently repetitive movement, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 70 lb. Requires help from coworkers when handling heavier items such as pallets and skids up to 35 ft long and 2000 lb.

Work Environment Work in a loud, noisy, and congested environment. Possible exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and all weather conditions. Proper protective clothing is required.
