Automation Maintenance Technician
Overview
Performs maintenance, troubleshooting and repair work on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic production and facility systems and equipment. Maintains all equipment PLCs and equipment networks.
Responsibilities
Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, schematics, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance.
Provide emergency repairs on production equipment to keep lines operational at all times.
Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs of production equipment, including replacement of failed components such as bearings, belts, motors, power/control PLCs, program uploads/downloads from outside sources or OEMs.
Perform all backups and storage of programs across the plant.
Use PLC programs across equipment, using various software; strong emphasis on Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Schneider, and Omron.
Use and edit programs in Allen Bradley Suite: ControlLogix, GuardLogix, SoftLogix, MicroLogix, SLC500, CompactLogix, Studio 5000, and FactoryTalk.
Write new programs and install and diagnose problems during startup phase.
Collaborate with production line workers and supervisors, with a strong customer service mindset.
Adjust various types of devices and control systems.
Have prior experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems including 480V and below, and control voltage systems.
Understand facility systems, component functions and relationships, and be competent in their troubleshooting and repair.
Qualifications
Minimum five years of experience in an industrial maintenance capacity.
Food or medical plant experience preferred, along with knowledge of and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Basic hydraulics/pneumatics and ammonia/refrigeration experience preferred.
Strong mathematical skills and ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations.
Bilingual skills would be a plus.
Mandatory ability to speak, understand, read and write in English.
Ability to interpret a variety of written, oral, diagrammatic or schedule instructions.
Ability to use computer and standard industry programs, and to learn and effectively use other computer programs that may be made available.
Physical Demands Regularly required to move about the facility, lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and perform tasks with hand-to-finger coordination, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must meet vision requirements such as close vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment Exposure to wet, cold, humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, electrical shock and vibration. Noise level usually loud.
Normal Work Schedule Must be able to work extended schedules including weekends and overtime.
