As a member of the Student Services team in the Ingram Center for Student‑Athlete Success, the Student Services Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Student Services. The primary focus of the role is to monitor the academic progress of student‑athletes for assigned sports. The Coordinator provides academic counseling and support services, refers student‑athletes to campus resources, and monitors study halls/tutorial services. About the Work Unit

Vanderbilt University’s Athletics Department prepares student‑athletes to become leaders and champions in life by placing the highest values on integrity, character, sportsmanship, and victory. Vanderbilt is a charter member of the Southeast Conference and its only private school. The university fields 17 varsity teams (6 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams), a total of 375 student‑athletes; 15 compete in the Southeast Conference. Key Functions and Expected Performance

Monitor the academic progress of assigned sports and provide academic counseling and support services as needed. Meet regularly with assigned caseload, including weekly meetings with first‑year student‑athletes and those in danger of not meeting good academic standing. Report academic progress to coaches and sport administrators. Check class attendance. Assist in tracking student‑athletes’ compliance with NCAA academic eligibility requirements and progress toward Vanderbilt University degree requirements. Help student‑athletes learn time‑management skills to balance academics and athletics. Serve as a sounding board for student‑athletes to address transition issues from home life to college. Meet with prospective student‑athletes and families as requested. Alert professors and/or deans to absences due to university‑sanctioned travel, medical procedures, illnesses, deaths in the family, or other extenuating circumstances that could result in missed class. Meet with professors, advisors, and/or deans as requested. Serve as a resource to professors if problems arise regarding a student‑athlete in which they would like our assistance. Refer student‑athletes to appropriate campus resources as needed. Collect and report academic data as needed (e.g., SEC Academic Honor Roll, Vice Chancellor/Athletics Director, Provost’s Office, Board of Trustees). Monitor evening study halls as assigned. Seek intentional professional development opportunities for continued growth. Serve as a role model for student‑athletes in upholding integrity, cooperation, self‑reflection, and stressing the importance of education. Work in a cooperative, team atmosphere to support student‑athletes’ needs. Comply with all NCAA and SEC rules and regulations. Work with the department’s compliance office to stay current on all rules and regulations and maintain integrity. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services, or the Director of the Ingram Center for Student‑Athlete Success. Supervisory Relationships

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility and reports administratively and functionally to the Director of Student Services. Education and Certifications

Master’s Degree is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree is required. Experience and Skills

1–2 years of experience within academics at an NCAA Division I athletics program is preferred. Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision is required. High emotional intelligence and ability to communicate effectively are required. Knowledge of NCAA Division I and SEC rules and regulations is required.
