Athletic Compliance/Student Support Specialist
Position Title: Athletic Compliance/Student Support Specialist
The athletic compliance/student support specialist manages a student‑athlete’s academic progress, ensures they meet NCAA and conference eligibility rules, and helps with personal and professional development. This role involves advising student‑athletes on academics, monitoring their progress and eligibility, coordinating support services and helping to create and implement athletic compliance policies. The specialist also handles administrative duties such as record‑keeping and coordinating with other university departments.
Key Responsibilities Compliance
Ensure student‑athletes and the athletics program comply with all NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
Monitor financial aid and amateurism rules.
Assist with the processing of waivers, reports, and other compliance paperwork.
Provide education and training on compliance rules to coaches, staff, and student‑athletes.
Track and report on student‑athlete academic progress and eligibility.
Provide academic advising, focusing on time management, study skills, and course selection.
Coordinate and oversee tutoring, study halls, and academic workshops.
Communicate with faculty about student progress and collaborate with academic advisors.
Manage compliance software and online resources.
Assist with roster and eligibility information.
Collaborate with various departments, such as financial aid and admissions, to ensure compliance.
Student‑Athlete Development
Help plan and execute programs focused on personal development, career readiness, and leadership skills.
Assist with organizing community service opportunities.
Support professional development activities, such as resume building and networking.
Maintain accurate records of student‑athlete performance and participation in support programs.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience: Compliance, academic, and student support services.
Ability to work flexible hours, possible weekends, and travel with sport teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with compliance software (e.g., ARMS) and other computer systems.
