Library Specialist, Spanish Speaker (Bilingual)
Join us as a Library Specialist, Spanish Speaker at Eloise May Library, one of the branches of Arapahoe Libraries. In this essential frontline role, you will connect patrons with the resources, technology, and opportunities they need, while ensuring every visitor feels welcome, understood, and empowered.
Key Responsibilities
Patron Engagement and Assistance
Greet patrons with warmth and provide support in both Spanish and English.
Ensure a safe and welcoming environment by consistently enforcing the Library's Patron Code of Conduct and utilizing de‑escalation techniques when addressing patron conflicts or disruptions.
Assist with library accounts, recommend materials, answer general reference questions, and promote events and services with clarity and enthusiasm.
Your bilingual communication skills will ensure patrons of all language backgrounds feel supported and included.
Technology and Digital Literacy
Help patrons troubleshoot and learn technology, from basic device support to using library computers, databases, and digital tools.
Provide bilingual guidance and instruction, helping patrons confidently access information.
Materials and Collection Support
Process, shelve, and maintain library materials. Create engaging displays and support collection organization using our inventory systems, while promoting Spanish‑language resources.
Learning and Development
Stay informed about library offerings and trends.
Participate in team collaboration, training, and continuous learning to enhance service delivery and foster innovation.

Qualifications REQUIRED
Fluency in both Spanish and English
One or more years of customer service, education, or library experience
Basic proficiency with Microsoft 365 and comfort with new technologies
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and adapt to a flexible schedule
Commitment to equity, continuous learning, and team collaboration
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
Experience working with children or teens
Experience serving Spanish‑speaking communities in a library, educational, or outreach setting
Schedule Requirements This role follows a balanced, team‑oriented schedule that includes the requirement of working every other weekend and closing at least 1 to 2 evenings per week. Schedules are provided in advance to support consistency, flexibility, and excellent service to the patrons of our community.
Schedule A
Week 1 includes Sunday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., and Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., with Monday and Saturday off.
Week 2 includes Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Tuesday 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with Sunday and Friday off.
Schedule B
Week 1 includes Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with Sunday and Friday off.
Week 2 includes Sunday and Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., with Monday and Saturday off.
