What to Expect As a Facilities Electrician, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of the electrical systems that support critical facility infrastructure. This role involves hands‑on work, where you will actively engage in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems. You'll work closely with Facilities Operations and Engineering teams to deliver high‑quality electrical services, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, with a focus on both preventative and emergency maintenance.

What You'll Do

Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of electrical equipment to support the facility's critical infrastructure

Collaborate with other electricians to install electrical systems, including panels, circuits, lighting, and commercial equipment, following construction documents and verbal instructions

Diagnose and repair electrical components such as contactors, relays, motors, and motor controls to ensure continuous operation of facility systems

Conduct detailed testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including relay controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), transformers, and motor circuits using standard electrical testing methods

Install and connect electrical systems, such as motor feeders, junction boxes, and distribution systems, ensuring all work complies with codes and standards

Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts, to perform electrical tasks at various heights and locations within the facility

Inspect electrical systems and components regularly to identify and address any hazards, defects, or necessary repairs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards

What You'll Bring

Strong knowledge of Control of Hazardous Energy policies (Lock Out / Tag Out)

Understanding of electrical principles and theories, including voltage and current

Ability to work at high elevations and read electrical schematics

Proficiency in basic mathematics and electrical testing

Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (NEC, NFPA 70e, OSHA)

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods and lift at least 10-20 lbs. regularly

Familiarity with protection relays, breaker trip settings, and electrical testing equipment
