Record Release Clerk.
Job Summary
Receives incoming requests, including opening mail and answering telephone inquiries. Date stamp all requests and highlight any pertinent information. Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established policies and procedures. Enter requests into the record release program and document pertinent information. Perform quality checks on all work to assure accuracy of the request and correct invoicing if applicable. Provide excellent customer service by being helpful and respectful at all times and by being proactive to any concerns. Work with confidential information in a conscientious manner while releasing medical information efficiently and correctly. Request patient paper charts, when necessary, to complete the release of information and copy medical records accurately according to the request. Weigh individual parcels on postage meter for correct amount of postage, when applicable, and mail out requests. Fax information when necessary. Assist record release supervisor with audits. Assist record release supervisor with monitoring reports. Assist record release supervisor with other duties as needed and assigned. Maintain patient confidentiality and standards of ethics with all health record information. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrate the ability to interact with a variety of customers using professionalism and tact at all times. Maintain all office equipment, with assistance from the help desk or supplier, in excellent working condition. Collect credit card payments, if necessary. Carry out job duties in accordance with policies and procedures of Prevea Health, HIPAA, state and federal regulations. Work independently within the scope of the position. Maintain an orderly work area, ensuring that all records and paperwork are secured prior to leaving the area. Maintain a professional, clean personal appearance and observe the department's dress code. Willingly accept assignments and be available to take on additional duties as needed. Demonstrate punctuality, effective time management, and maintain a high standard of attendance. Audit, bill, accept payments, file requests for paper work. Education Qualifications
High School Diploma and/or GED or equivalent. Required. Training and continuing education with regard to Wisconsin statutes dealing with the confidentiality of medical information and the release of medical documents. Required. HIPAA training. Required. Experience Qualifications
Prior experience in a medical office or medical record department. Required. Skills and Abilities
Computer experience. Excellent organizational skills. Must. Type 35 words per minute. Be able to multitask. Be able to learn new equipment and processes. Be able to use fax machine, copier and multi-line telephone. Have proven customer service satisfaction skills. Be a team player. Physical Demands
