Job Summary Under the direct supervision of a Housekeeping Supervisor, the person in this position is responsible for wall washing, floor maintenance, carpet cleaning, trash collection, handling and disposal of solid and biohazardous waste in assigned areas, and operation of the San‑I‑Pak machine. May perform Housekeeping Assistant functions and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
Strip and refinish floors, move furniture, apply stripping solution, scrub floor, vacuum solution, rinse mop, apply undercoat, wax, polish, return furniture, set up room.
Operate commercial vacuum cleaner and attachments for floors, walls, furniture, high dusting; use floor polishing buffer.
Collect and separate different waste streams; use assistance pulling device to deliver to dock; dispose with appropriate equipment.
Operate medical waste treatment unit; run loads, put liners, manage carts, test quality.
Maintain wall washing equipment; daily cleaning, proper storage; keep supplies on hand.
Perform Housekeeping Assistant duties as assigned.
Observe and practice standard precautions and hospital safety regulations.
Recognize and eliminate potential hazards associated with adults and children.
Report needed minor repairs of rooms; maintain equipment, supplies and materials by frequent cleaning, proper storage.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Must complete orientation and continuing education training programs.
Six months experience in a hospital or procedural setting.
No license or certification required.
Knowledge
Establish and maintain respectful relationships with diverse population.
Learn to finish floors (wax and polish).
Perform varied manual cleaning and related labor; lift, push, operate, maintain equipment; keep simple records.
Prioritize work assignments and use time efficiently.
Speak, read, write, and understand English effectively.
Work effectively as a team player.
Know methods, equipment and materials used in washing walls, floor care and maintenance, and waste disposal.
Physical Requirements Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Pay Range Hourly: $32.70 to $36.56. Minimum to midpoint range.
