Job Summary/Purpose Manages single large projects or programs of projects that typically have a segmentation rating of 3 or 4 or any project supportive of an EPC Contracting Strategy. Manages the development and delivery of a capital project or program to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Provides direct management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve capital project objectives.
Job Duties/Responsibilities Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables and requirements as needed.
Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works with appropriate Entergy management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team. Prepares contracts, approves requisitions, change orders and processes invoices. Fulfills role of ‘Contract Manager’ or as Owner’s representative as otherwise defined in the project contracts and administers contracts. Issues formal correspondence to Contractors.
Leads the project team to develop and execute the project in accordance with applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate process and coordinates activities to meet the requirements of Entergy’s SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.). Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.
Develops and maintains the Project Execution Plan and executes the project in adherence to this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation. Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors. Incorporates previous projects’ Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience into the project execution plan. Manages the project in line with the project budget. Implements project controls for effectively managing scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts and communications in accordance with applicable corporate standards.
Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Communicates issues to the next level of leadership when required.
Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve corporate standards and project budget and timeline, including CC&A and Supply Chain. Monitors contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, quality and contractual compliance. Turns over completed project equipment and systems to the Plant with necessary documentation, training and instructions.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent work experience. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum experience required:
10 years overall, with at least 5 years in Distribution, Substation or Transmission. Field experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expert in project and construction management fundamentals. Knowledge of engineering science and technology applied to transmission lines and substations. Ability to manage design, construction, commissioning and operations of electrical transmission facilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired certifications:
PMP Certification.
