Job Summary / Purpose The Project Manager – Capital Projects (Senior Lead or Senior Staff) oversees project development (Stage 1‑2) for Capital Projects Transmission projects. The role promotes safe behavior, adheres to Entergy Safety Rules and OSHA guidelines, and ensures compliance with the Entergy Project Delivery System. Responsibilities include leading cross‑functional teams, developing planning and scoping estimates, creating schedules, coordinating with sponsors, portfolio management, finance, and external customers, and ensuring proper handover and contracting.
Responsibilities
Promote and enforce safe behaviors and compliance with Entergy Safety Rules and OSHA guidelines.
Review Project Design and Construction Requests (PDCR) with sponsors to ensure alignment of business case, justification, and alternatives.
Lead or manage a Jurisdictional Expertise Team (JET) to scope, schedule, cost, risk, and lessons learned during project development.
Develop Class 5 and 4 estimates using best industry practices and Entergy estimating tools.
Prepare initial Level 1 and Level 2 schedule definitions and communicate any delays to sponsors and customers.
Generate project cash flows that align with schedules and cost estimates.
Demonstrate project readiness for Review and Approval (R&A) with upper management in accordance with the Entergy Project Delivery System.
Maintain accurate and timely project status reports; identify, communicate, and take corrective actions for project issues.
Ensure proper documentation, archiving, and record retention for all work.
Coordinate with Project Controls, Portfolio Management, and Finance to ensure appropriate accounting for both Entergy‑funded and customer‑funded projects.
Collaborate with Entergy legal representation to secure sound contracting with customers.
Provide leadership to contract resources as Owner’s Representative and monitor contractor performance in safety, schedule, cost, quality, and contractual compliance.
Participate in cross‑functional training and process improvement initiatives; serve as a mentor within the Project Development organization.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field OR 4 years equivalent experience.
Preferred:
Advanced degree (MBA, MS in Engineering, etc.)
Experience (Senior Lead):
6 years project management experience in construction or the electric utility industry, with at least 2 years of engineering experience.
Experience (Senior Staff):
8 years project management experience in construction or the electric utility industry, with at least 4 years of engineering experience.
Supervisory experience or ability to lead cross‑functional teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management software.
Knowledge of industry best practices, estimating practices, and scheduling for utility projects.
Preference for PMP certification.
Additional Qualifications
Experience managing project costs, cash flows, and financial controls.
Ability to work with external customers and understand their technical requirements.
Understanding of Entergy Project Delivery System and Stage Gates.
