Job Summary The Office of the Vice President for University Outreach at Auburn University invites applications for the Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). The Director reports to the Vice President for University Outreach and Associate Provost, providing strategic and operational leadership and managing all aspects of OLLI at Auburn University. Core responsibilities include administration, budgeting, academic and public programming, membership development, community engagement, fundraising, advertising and communications, and short‑ and long‑term planning.
Essential Functions
Guide and implement OLLI activities with the leadership board, university administration, and other departments; develop short‑term and long‑range plans aligned with University Outreach’s objectives.
Lead staff and volunteers to plan and deliver in‑person and virtual classes, public programs, workshops, and social activities across three quarters and the summer term; assess program quality and audience satisfaction.
Conceptualize, administer, and oversee fundraising and development efforts, including building maintenance, program finances, scholarships, and external grant funding.
Establish and maintain partnerships with University Outreach units, campus departments, and external organizations; coordinate with the Bernard Osher Foundation and the National Resources Center, providing required reports.
Oversee the Institute’s budget, ensuring adherence to Auburn University’s financial policies; prepare a comprehensive three‑year budget plan and monitor financial operations.
Develop membership enrollment goals and recruitment strategies; strengthen participation among diverse members.
Manage publicity and communications, maintain website content and promotional materials, and use media outlets for local and regional promotion.
Coordinate with campus facilities management to oversee OLLI administrative offices, negotiate space, and adapt facilities for virtual classrooms.
Supervise the OLLI staff team, including full‑time administrative staff, program administrators, temporary employees, student workers, and interns; conduct training, evaluation, and staff development.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Adult Education, Communications, Management, or a closely related field.
Five years of experience in an academic setting working with administrators; experience with volunteers.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Experience in an academic environment collaborating with administrators and volunteers.
Expertise in planning, administering, and developing fee‑for‑service, non‑credit educational programs.
Understanding of outreach initiatives and the OLLI mission.
Knowledge and experience in fundraising and donor stewardship.
Experience in budget development, staff supervision, and departmental operations improvement.
Advanced strategic planning and program evaluation skills.
Ability to secure extramural funding opportunities.
Exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with diverse individuals.
Active participation in professional associations related to outreach and continuing education.
Knowledge of higher education policies, especially Carnegie and SACS guidelines for outreach and engagement.
