Overview MasTec Civil is currently hiring for Concrete Finishers / Carpenters to join our team in Mobile AL.

A Concrete Finisher is a craft hourly‑rated employee who can expertly pour level and smooth concrete on a variety of surfaces including roads, sidewalks, curbs, bridge decks and floors. He may also be required to set the forms that hold the concrete in place, patch existing surfaces, cut expansion joints and monitor the curing of the concrete to ensure a high‑quality finish.

Responsibilities ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Setting forms that hold the concrete in place and removing them accurately once the concrete is set.

Cleaning and inspecting surfaces for pouring issues.

Directing the casting of the concrete with the truck driver or pump operator.

Pouring, smoothing and leveling concrete using a rake, trowel, float and screed (handheld and power tools).

Monitoring the effects of weather on the curing process.

Applying sealing, curing and hardening components.

Safely operating power vibrators to ensure the concrete is compacted.

Molding and constructing expansion joints using joiners and edging tools.

Polishing surface using a power surfacing machine.

Removing existing concrete using grinders, electric chipping hammers or heavy‑duty pneumatic jack hammers.

Knowledge of setting, maintaining and operating a Bid Well Bridge Paver Machine is highly appreciated, though not essential.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1‑year construction‑related experience (concrete work and finishing).

High school or secondary education completion is preferred.

Qualifications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

A successful Concrete Finisher must possess the trade skills needed for the job and be familiar with the latest concrete pouring technology. The position may require working shifts, weekends and nights. The candidate should be physically fit, able to stand for long periods, work on knees, lift heavy materials and work outdoors in hot or cold weather.
