Unhoused Outreach Specialist (Full-Time)
The CENTER for Human Services, a leading provider of behavioral health care services, is seeking an Unhoused Outreach Specialist. (Full-Time)
Responsibilities:
Works with homeless individuals with compassion and understanding
Provides support and resource information to individuals and family members as necessary and appropriate
Assists individuals to identify and develop natural community supports to foster independence and community integration
Assists neighbors experiencing homelessness with accessing resources and making referrals; continues to engage with unsheltered homeless neighbors until shelter or permanent housing is obtained
Assists clients with housing applications, completes supportive and subsidized housing paperwork, surveys rental market for affordable housing, and advocates for clients with prospective landlords
Develops a relationship with neighbors through frequent outreach visits to foster trust building and support participation in programs
Encourages and supports client participation in activities and events that increase ability to remain linked to care and/or behavioral health care, identifies employment options or cash benefits, and identifies housing options
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
Personal experience in recovery from lived experience with mental illness and/or a substance use disorder
Willingness and ability to engage in self-disclosure to assist in treatment
Passion to help others with their recovery
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Illinois driver’s license with full coverage auto insurance
Preferred Qualification: Salary Range: $17.00 - $24.50 per hour
