Facilities Assistant III – Grounds Central Arizona College

Job Summary Perform a variety of custodial tasks in the cleaning and maintenance of college facilities, including classrooms, office areas, restrooms, entryways, and external grounds. Responsibilities include groundskeeping, maintenance of athletic fields, operating power tools, and setting up events.

Responsibilities

Clean exterior building grounds, walkways, and athletic fields, ensuring safety and cleanliness.

Inspect grounds for cleanliness and repair needs; report issues to supervisor.

Perform grounds-keeping tasks such as seeding, lawn mowing, fertilizing, landscaping, planting, leaf removal, pruning, and preventive maintenance.

Apply fertilizer or herbicides according to MSDS guidelines.

Operate power tools and equipment safely; conduct minor maintenance and report needed repairs.

Install, repair, and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.

Prepare and maintain athletic fields in safety condition.

Process and complete grounds work orders, maintain daily time activity log.

Set up tables, chairs, and stages for special activities or events.

Perform additional duties as required, including committee participation and student recruitment and retention support.

Qualifications

Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations.

Two (2) years related experience.

Must possess an Arizona Driver License and be insurable to drive College vehicles.

Qualifications may include special license/rating if applicable.

Open to rotating shifts: days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Hourly rate $16.50–$17.49 depending on qualifications.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Understand and follow directions and MSDS information.

Knowledge of custodial maintenance in public buildings, including use of hand and power equipment.

Communication skills and ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with administrators, staff, and students.

Ability to plan, assign, schedule, and coordinate work assignments.

Ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
