What You’ll Do:
DYS is seeking a Maintenance Repair Worker 3
to join our diverse team! The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a solid background in semi-skilled and skilled tasks.
Specifically, the Maintenance Repair Worker 3
will:
Work under general direction from the Building Maintenance Superintendent for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (DYS) Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility (CJCF) & requires considerable knowledge of maintenance in order to perform semi-skilled & skilled tasks (i.e., telecommunication; carpentry; electrical; plumbing; heating; refrigeration; electronic components of heating & cooling systems; installs various communications cables; maintains radio systems; masonry work; painting; various repairs & adjustments to building structures &/or equipment; repair to doors, partitions, windows,& furniture); moves computers, printers & other equipment; supervise youth workers assigned to work area.
Perform &/or supervise the youth performing custodial duties within the facility.
Perform necessary grounds keeping duties: snow removal, salt spreading, operation of motor vehicles with/or without snow plow, operate lawn mower, weed control/removal, plant/remove flowers, bushes & other landscape material, parking lot maintenance.
Other duties as assigned (e.g., attend meetings, represent Building Maintenance Superintendant at DYS sponsored events; attend trainings, conferences on behalf of DYS, answer phones, etc.).
Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in maintenance repair (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry & use of associated hand & power tools & equipment). Valid commercial driver’s license required if motor equipment is of type & size regulated by Sections 4506.01 & 4506.12 of Ohio revised code; in Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry only, applicants must have successfully completed the mandated basic firefighter/introduction to fire behavior course (S-130/S-190). -Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated licensure.
