Contingent - Heavy Equipment Operator
Location Eastern Campus in Riverhead
Pay Range $37,793.00 per year (Base).
Position Description
Operate heavy machines: front end loader, 10‑wheel dump truck, backhoes, roll‑offs, rollers, small bulldozers (≤72 hp), tank testing equipment, line paint machines, large flatbed truck, tractor trailers, sewer maintenance equipment, street sweepers, snow blowers, tracked vehicles with diggers.
Check working conditions of equipment and perform routine service and maintenance.
Supervise the work of lower‑level employees.
Work Monday through Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of six school grades + one year experience operating heavy automotive equipment; OR one year experience as an automotive equipment operator.
Must possess a valid CDL license issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, maintained throughout employment.
Hiring Salary and Benefits The starting annual salary is
$37,793
per year, pursuant to the Association of Municipal Employees (AME) contract (Grade 13). Position is eligible for medical benefits as offered by the College.
