Role Overview The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The Technician also performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, water filtration, and general plant maintenance. The Technician works directly with machine Operators, Supervisors, Preventive Maintenance Mechanics and Senior Maintenance Technicians to resolve mechanical issues arising during shifts.

Essential Functions

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings, and testing equipment.

Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at the facility.

Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes.

Maintain industrial control systems.

Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner.

May fill in for production operator as needed.

Create and report repairs throughout the shift. Complete required work order paperwork, document parts and material usage.

Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation.

Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.

Regular and predictable attendance is essential to ensure equipment and facility uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years experience in a field or similar maintenance environment.

Minimum of 4 years experience in a maintenance position.

Minimum of 4 years experience managing people or projects.

Experience may include a combination of work experience and education.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments.

Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill and lathe, and assorted power tools.

Proficient with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges.

Willingness to act as a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center.

Will need own toolbox and basic tools.

Preferred: 6 years experience in field or similar manufacturing environment.

Preferred: 6 years experience in a maintenance position.

Preferred: 6 years experience managing people or projects.

Preferred: Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries.

Preferred: Experience with Variable Frequency Drives, servo drives, and servo motors; rotary equipment; thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing.

Preferred: Familiarity with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment; HVAC; and electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.

Preferred: Fabrication skills such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG, or stick). Skilled in electrical systems including 480 VAC & 24 VDC power.

Preferred: Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation diagrams; experience repairing VFDs, servo motors, and controllers, communication systems, PLC I/O cards, and safety modules.

Education

High School Diploma (minimum required).

Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation, or similar specialization (preferred).

Typical Compensation Range Hourly: $31.79 – $46.10
