Position Summary
A Bucket Truck Operator assists with clearing and removing trees along electrical power lines and right-of-ways. The operator operates an aerial lift device (bucket truck) to reach branches interfering with electric lines and operates chain saws, pruners, brush chippers, and may climb trees using climbing equipment. Responsibilities
Follow safe practices and rules while clearing and trimming trees and brush away from utility lines. Spray brush and stumps, making proper and selective application of herbicides. Operate and service equipment and tools such as hydraulic tools, power tools, buckets, chippers, and sprayers. Perform tree and bucket rescue. Train new personnel. Duties and responsibilities may change with or without notice. Qualifications
Semi-skilled in mechanics. Proficient in proper tree groundwork, including basic tree pruning and removal. Must complete a proficiency test consisting of climbing, knot tying, and chainsaw maintenance. Demonstrate safe handling and operation of chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Knowledge of essential job functions and responsibilities. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to solve problems. Meet all physical requirements of the position. Pass all drug and alcohol screens as required by company policy and, if applicable, required by DOT regulations. 18 years of age or older, or 21 if CDL is required.
