Job Summary The Material Handler ensures the orderly distribution of materials and products in the plant by operating a forklift, pallet jack or other machinery to pull needed items from inventory and delivering to designated machines. This position also performs quality checks, makes adjustments to process equipment, and re‑grinds materials.

Job Duties

Ensures forklift is fully operational and safe to operate by performing daily safety inspection.

Prepares machines for efficient changeover.

Loads and unloads raw materials, components and accessories from storage and manufacturing areas and stages items at each machine.

Monitors machines to ensure adequate quantities of materials are in machine for processing.

Removes unneeded raw materials and components from production area and moves to designated storage area.

Verifies ticket information, including count, before removing any stack, pallet or cage from machines. Initials white copy of production ticket.

Maintains accurate inventory of items by identifying and labeling materials and recording location.

Collects white copies of production tickets and submits to shift supervisor at end of shift.

Removes finished products from production area and moves to designated staging area and/or assigned truck.

Shrink wraps all completed pallets of boxes.

Removes all scrap and waste from production area.

Initials tickets for lids and boxes before moving pallets and cages.

Relieves production personnel and assists in training new employees.

Provides Material Handlers with inventory control accessories and tools.

Completes all required documentation and product control functions.

Education and Experience

Six months related material handler experience in a manufacturing environment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of re‑grind preferred

Ability to obtain a company forklift certification

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Knowledge of inventory control helpful

Ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule (including 12‑hour rotating day/night shifts) and overtime hours

Physical Requirements and Work Environment Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where there is exposure to moderate to loud noise, outdoor weather conditions, vibration, occasional work in high places and moving mechanical parts.

Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, talk, see and hear.

Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 35 lbs. and roll 400 lbs.
