Job Summary Transportation Support Coordinator. In this role you will support the transportation operation in all areas, including dispatching, facilitating and leading training, and providing guidance to others. You will be expected to meet and maintain production standards, strive for continuous improvement, and develop new concepts for senior management.

This leadership position handles daily functions, issues, and projects under the direction of the transportation supervisors or manager, with a large focus on coordination of retail deliveries, backhauls, DC shuttles, fleet for hire, and DC-to-DC transfers.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and compile reports for backhauls, fleet for hire (including CA runs), mixing center, and transfers for the Inbound Scheduling Network as needed.

Monitor loads for each distribution center to minimize empty miles, out‑of‑balance lanes, and coordinate with logistics and buyers to minimize out‑of‑stock conditions.

Obtain trailer numbers from suppliers and key them for backhauls in YMS prior to arrival at DC.

Check Manhattan for unplanned orders and CAMS for failed loads.

Check morning report for fleet shipments with zero cost due today and forward.

Key in late deliveries into Manhattan by end of business day for next day reporting prior to 9 a.m.

Set up daily load sheet.

Assign PO to the 900 routes going out of the warehouse.

Deadhead backhauls from the CAMS board for the next day.

Communicate with other DCs for next day receipts/deliveries.

Track backhaul late deliveries to the original due date.

Check for any early produce POs and notify buyer.

Start next day POs.

Ensure multiple DC loads are separated and assigned.

Add backhauls off stores when loads are in CAMS.

Run and review the Backhaul Imbalance Report used to forecast loads.

Report to Accounts Payable with reconciling billing for vendor detention and prepare freight bills when applicable.

Handle phone calls from store personnel, vendors, and other partners regarding service issues & special requests.

Serve in dispatch and payroll roles as needed.

Perform daily dispatch audits to ensure fairness with driver miles and load routes.

Process driver payroll as needed by verifying trip pay sheet, dispatch delay report, truck shop delay report, store delay report, and all required standard reports.

Evaluate coordination of loads to ensure efficient and timely deliveries to stores.

Monitor CA loads on the board, secure profitable/acceptable for‑hire loads, coordinate PO’s off CA runs, update load board during transport, provide required documents to broker for payment, and maintain accurate records for costs, loads, reporting, etc.

Trainer for office staff on dispatch, backhaul and payroll functions.

Systems administrator, educator and coordinator of technical support, troubleshooting and upgrade testing, and recommend enhancements with ROI.

Work with Corporate Fleet Manager on trailer inventory, utilization, tractor replacement, trailer non‑movement reporting, and trailer tracking.

Work with other departments within the facility to achieve and maintain overall production standards.

Ensure compliance with company standards in accuracy, safety and productivity.

Perform some overnight travel and work a flexible schedule.

Anything else assigned by leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks).

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity/experience in a transportation environment.

Knowledge of DOT and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations along with Transportation Logistics.

College degree or equivalent work experience and/or training in the transportation industry.

Skills & Abilities

Excellent customer service, communication, verbal and written skills.

Ability to meet production standards set by the company.

Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time.

Ability to read and understand written and numeric product identifiers.

Ability to handle multiple tasks.

Must be able to work the needed schedule to perform assigned duties, including weekends, nights and overtime.

Highly motivated self‑starter and team player with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Ability to use personal computer for data entry and research purposes.

Experience with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc.
