It is the responsibility of the HSE Coordinator to coordinate company safety initiatives within the region, jobsites and facilities. This position is responsible for loss control prevention, reporting, investigation, and follow-up corrective actions. Further, this position must lead the efforts in the effective supervision, management, motivation, and training of Mistras employees in the areas of personal safety, health, regulatory compliance, and environmental concerns. This position is responsible for ensuring that regular audits and safety reviews are performed for all operation within their respective area.

Responsibilities and Duties

Design, implement, and manage safety programs, procedures, and initiatives to reduce the frequency and severity of injuries, vehicle incidents, and environmental accidents.

Generate and maintain HSE programs, procedures, work instructions, and checklists in compliance with regulatory and company requirements.

Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as MISTRAS safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Prepare and submit required permits, documents, and environmental, health, and safety reports to state, federal, and local agencies.

Address OSHA and other regulatory reporting and record-keeping requirements.

Plan, conduct, and assist in compliance audits, self-audits, and jobsite inspections to identify hazards and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Recommend corrective or preventive measures and work with management to implement improvements.

Participate in customer HSE reviews and support client requirements and visits.

Ensure proper reporting, investigation, and corrective action for incidents, including personal injury, property damage, near-miss events, and public incidents involving MISTRAS operations.

Monitor and follow up on all HSE reports and maintain accurate records in the MISTRAS HSE Reporting System.

Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors, including new hire orientation, regulatory, and client-required training.

Identify training needs, schedule sessions, and ensure documentation of attendance per company and regulatory requirements.

Promote safety awareness and provide coaching to associates and managers on compliance issues.

Track and communicate HSE objectives, results, and trends.

Compile and analyze HSE data, prepare actionable improvement plans, and report effectiveness of safety meetings and initiatives to corporate, regional, and local management.

Promote effective supervision, management, and motivation of team members regarding safety, health, and environmental concerns.

Work closely with business units and the corporate safety team to implement standardized processes and policies.

Develop strategies to reduce incidents and injuries.

Monitor monthly safety meetings and training at jobsite locations and provide feedback for improvement.

Support other HSE-related activities as directed by management.

Minimum Requirements

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related

At least 5 years HSE experience in manufacturing, oil & gas, petrochemical, or related industries.

Proficient in Microsoft suite of programs.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Self-starter who can effectively prioritize, multi-task and manage to accomplish objectives within prescribed deadlines.

Outstanding communication skills including written, oral, interpersonal and presentation.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations.

Must be able to perform work outdoors in a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions.

Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.

Ability to be "on call" 24/7 for emergencies.

Must possess a valid drivers’ license to operate a motor vehicle and authorize Mistras to validate by means of an MVR search.

Ability to wear various forms of personal protective equipment during the performance of their duties.

Able to perform work during prolonged standing up to 8 hours or more; frequent bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, grasping, and repetitive motion also required.

Travel up to 40% of the time, some overnight/weekend.

Essential Physical Functions

Frequent lifting up to 30 lbs.
