At Hord Farms, our success relies on our people and processes. We're currently seeking an Afternoon Feed Mill & Elevator Maintenance Technician to add to our team. This position focuses on preventative maintenance and repairs at our Feed Mill and Elevator for all equipment associated with each area. The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of farming and mechanical operations. Experience with mechanics, welding, hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry are key to thriving in this role. Report to the Elevator Maintenance Leader Work on Feed Mill and Elevator equipment Perform routine preventive maintenance on grain elevators, feed mills, conveyors, augers, bucket elevators, dryers, mixers, grinders, and related equipment Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues Inspect equipment for wear, damage, or safety hazards and recommend corrective actions Assist with installation, alignment, and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment Replace belts, motors, and bearings when needed or advised by senior maintenance team Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor machining as needed Troubleshoot motors, gearboxes, bearings, belts, chains, and control systems Respond to emergency breakdowns and support after-hours maintenance when required Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts usage records Coordinate with operations staff to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability Maintain housekeeping standards in maintenance areas and throughout the facility Adhere to farm bio‑security and safety procedures set forth by leadership What You Need
General knowledge of farming and mechanical operations Experience with mechanics, welding, hydraulics, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry Strong background with mechanical, electrical, and preventative maintenance Basic knowledge of PLC controls inputs and outputs Basic knowledge of high‑voltage electric, low‑voltage controls, and pneumatic controls Ability to understand complex instructions and perform complex tasks Organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills Basic computer knowledge with Windows, Excel, and email Ability to lift more than 100 pounds and climb more than 170 feet Work mainly outdoors during all seasons with a great deal of physical activity Work 45‑50 hours per week including on‑call availability and weekend work as needed Your Rewards
