This is second level Utility Mechanic II position. This position encompasses all essential functions under Utility Mechanic II. This position requires limited supervision, and with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, performs complex work to ensure that the water treatment plant, well fields and storage facilities are running efficiently by making repairs, performing preventive maintenance (PM), and installing new machinery and equipment. May provide direction or mentoring to Utility Mechanic 1 positions. This position may be located in Water Distribution, Wastewater Collections, Water Treatment Plant or Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Responsibilities
Provides preventative maintenance program to water/wastewater treatment plant, well installations and sewer pumping stations. Installs, maintains, inspects, modifies, and repairs a wide variety of mechanical and electrical equipment in the City's water and wastewater collection, distribution, treatment and related facilities and systems, including, but not limited to, pumps, compressors, valves, motors, engines, controllers, conveyor systems, mechanical drives and related or similar systems and equipment. Performs scheduled preventative maintenance inspections and procedures on various mechanical and electrical components of the water and wastewater systems in addition to the maintenance of other equipment. Performs routine electric and/or acetylene welding, brazing and/or soldering repairs and fabrications as required. Installs equipment, replaces parts or makes adjustments to parts in machine shop. Maintains irrigation system. Maintains equipment maintenance database; prepares maintenance records and reports. Conducts emergency and routine repairs at various onsite and offsite pumping facilities. Additional Job Functions
Receives work assignments (PM repairs, installations) daily from the Lead Mechanic or Mechanic III; determines the type of tools, materials and supplies needed to do the assigned work; responds to requests for immediate service throughout the day as needed; and performs the assignments promptly and efficiently. Responds to after-hours emergency calls. Performs related duties as may be assigned. Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a water plant and/or wastewater plant systems with a minimum of two (2) years experience performing Level I duties. Or any equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must possess valid state driver’s license with maintenance of clean driving record. Possess and maintain a valid Class "B" or higher State of Florida Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of employment in position. CPR Certification. Preferred Qualifications
Any two of the following: Vocational, Technical, Associates, or Bachelor’s Degree. Wastewater Collection System Operator C/B/A certification. Water Distribution Operator Level 1/2/3 License. Backflow Prevention Certification. Journeyman Plumber Certification. Machinist Certification. Vendor Pump and Motor Certification.
