Overview

Under the general direction and supervision of the Physical Plant Superintendent, the Maintenance Worker II - HVAC position is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. This includes equipment in all instructional facilities and the cafeteria. The person in this position must be able to work with and supervise student employees. This is a full-time regular position. Responsibilities

Basic Maintenance and Repair: Maintains, services, repairs, and installs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. This includes routine maintenance, diagnostic work to determine the cause of problems, installing components, and replacing complete units in campus heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (instructional facilities, cafeteria, and recreation facilities). Work includes motors, air conditioning units, refrigeration units, and electronic and pneumatic controls. Assists Other Maintenance/Repair Workers: Assists the electrician with repair and installation of electrical components, pulling wire, installing conduit, and wiring electrical circuits. Assists with the repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems. Tool and Supply Management: Operates power tools and test equipment, uses hand tools, and is responsible for safe operation of tools and equipment. Tools include pliers, dikes, screwdrivers, nut drivers, pipe wrenches, socket wrenches, special tools for Amana HTM equipment, thermometers, manifold gauges, volt-ohm meters, refrigerant recovery/recycling system, electric drill, sheet metal cutters, black light, tubing cutters, oxygen acetylene brazing equipment, velocity meter, capacitor analyzer, relay analyzer, circuit tracer, pipe threader, and leak detector. Inventory: Maintains the inventory of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and plumbing parts needed for maintenance of equipment. Use of Materials: Works with cleaning solvents, fluxes, refrigerants, and other hazardous materials. Operates College Pickup and Vans: Operates college pickup and vans on campus and public streets for transporting tools, equipment, and repair components. Supervises Student Workers: Responsible for work assignments and supervision of student workers assigned to this position. Communication: Must be able to communicate with supervisor, staff, and faculty in a timely, factual, clear, concise, and meaningful manner. Read Blueprints: Must be able to read blueprints and construct or remodel according to prepared plans. Emergencies: When on emergency standby, must be able to be on campus and respond to emergencies within 15 minutes. High school graduate or GED. Minimum of four (4) years of technical level experience in air conditioning, heating, plumbing, and refrigeration service and maintenance, OR an associate degree in Air Conditioning, Heating, Plumbing, and Refrigeration PLUS three (3) years of experience. Possess and maintain a valid driver\'s license and the ability to qualify for auto insurance. Seniority level
