Duties

Maintain a specified area in an orderly and clean condition.

Vacuum clean rugs and draperies; sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, and polish floors with industrial‑type power equipment.

Adjust and change buffers, brushes, and other attachments on power equipment.

Dust, wax, and polish office furniture; dust ledges and woodwork.

Empty ashtrays and wastebaskets; polish doorknobs and metal fixtures.

Clean glass partitions and both inside and outside windows using stepladders and extension ladders.

Maintain restrooms in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition; clean, disinfect, and deodorize lavatories, sinks, toilet bowls, mirrors, and water fountains.

Replace deodorizers, toilet tissues, hand towels, and soap.

Report water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions that require maintenance to the supervisor.

Maintain supplies of cleaning materials and advise the supervisor when additional supplies are needed or equipment repairs are required.

Perform seasonal tasks as required (e.g., apply ice control material to building entrances, mow grass, water lawns).

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work indoors most of the time and occasionally outdoors, in contact with strong cleaning agents, and with the risk of falls on slippery surfaces or when working on ladders.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of proper use of a variety of special cleaning and sanitizing solutions and how to remove different kinds of stains from a wide variety of surfaces.

Ability to clean and adjust power cleaning equipment and lift 50 pounds or more on occasion.
