Job Title
CUSTODIAL WORKER II
– State of Arizona
Base Pay Range $15.00/hr – $15.00/hr
Location Papago Park Military Reservation (PPMR), Phoenix, AZ
Job Summary Under general supervision, the Custodial Worker II provides basic janitorial and/or minor maintenance services in various administrative, maintenance, or other DEMA-operated government facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning hard‑surfaced floors, walls, carpeting; inventorying and distributing supplies; changing bulbs, tubes, ballasts, and A/C filters; assisting with general groundkeeping and training new team members; may work with or supervise DOC minimum‑security inmates.
Job Duties
Empty trash, sweep, wet mop, and clean fixtures in restrooms; replenish supplies (toilet tissue, soap, paper towels); supervise inmates as needed.
Empty wastepaper baskets, sweep, dust mop, and wet mop in offices.
Dust or clean furniture, fixtures, windowsills, registers, doors, walls, and windows.
Distribute supplies from storage, clean equipment, replace light bulbs/tubes; secure storage areas and cabinets.
Assist with stripping, re‑waxing, polishing floors; vacuum and clean/shampoo carpets.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Policies and procedures for work area.
Cleaning methods, materials, and practices.
Operation and care of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing/polishing machines, and custodial equipment.
Chemical reactions of cleaning products.
Tools, safety procedures, and light mechanical operations including plumbing and lighting.
Rules and regulations to supervise inmates.
Methodology to perform assigned tasks.
Organize and manage time; problem‑solving; identifying training needs; teaching equipment care; identifying and correcting unsafe work areas; recording/reporting expendable supplies and equipment inventories; effective written and verbal communication; maintaining interpersonal relationships; supervising DOC minimum‑security prisoners; adjusting work assignments within limits.
Uses of vacuum cleaners, scrubbing/polishing machines, and other custodial equipment.
Selective Preferences Previous custodial work experience; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is a plus.
Pre‑Employment Requirements
Current, valid state‑issued driver's license; may be required for driving on state business.
State travel required.
Fingerprint and security clearance check.
Willing and able to supervise DOC minimum‑security inmates.
