Prospect Ridge Academy The Facility Technician is responsible for daily maintenance, cleanliness, and repair of the school’s buildings and grounds. This role supports the safe and effective operation of the facility by performing a wide variety of custodial, maintenance, and event support duties. The Facility Technician works closely with the Facilities Manager and school staff to maintain a clean, welcoming, and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors. Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on building systems, fixtures, and equipment (e.g., light plumbing, basic electrical, HVAC troubleshooting, painting). Conduct seasonal system checks and ensure operational readiness. Assist with building and site safety inspections, identify hazards, graffiti, and vandalism, and report findings to the Facilities Manager. Clean and sanitize all school facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, stairwells, commons areas, offices, gymnasium, locker rooms, and the media/library. Perform seasonal and project‑specific cleaning tasks, including summer deep cleaning. Remove trash and recycling from interior and exterior areas. Maintain floors (vacuum, mop, scrub, wax) and surfaces (windows, walls, desks, fixtures). Assist with setting up and taking down buildings for school functions and events, moving and arranging tables, chairs, and furniture as needed. Lock and unlock spaces based on event needs; secure the building and arm security systems after events. Answer questions, respond to on‑site requests, and assist guests as needed. Support outdoor maintenance, including snow removal, ice melt distribution, debris pickup, fence line cleaning, and window/door washing. Perform light landscaping duties, including edging and tree trimming. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of entrances, walkways, and exterior lighting fixtures. Maintain regular communication with the Facilities Manager regarding work orders, concerns, and status updates. Utilize a ticketing/work order system, along with email, to manage requests and document completed work. Respond promptly to emergency maintenance and custodial situations. Operate small equipment such as forklifts, small vehicles, auto‑scrubbers, and other maintenance tools safely and efficiently. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum 18 years of age. At least 1 year of experience in custodial or facilities maintenance is preferred. Experience with painting, ceiling tile replacement, basic electrical, and plumbing is preferred. Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must pass a background check. Must have reliable transportation (PRA is not on a public transit route). Skills and Abilities

Fundamental problem‑solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, follow instructions, and adapt to changing situations. Operate and maintain various cleaning and maintenance equipment. Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills with a diverse population. Ability to follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment. Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently or under limited supervision. Proficient in reading and interpreting work orders, schedules, instructions, and policies. Able to work with multiple variables and tasks simultaneously. Capable of using judgment appropriate to the situation at hand. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Stand and walk for extended periods of time. Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (snow removal, heat, cold). Frequently lift and carry up to 60 lbs (e.g., ice melt, water jugs, supplies); occasionally up to 100 lbs with assistance. Use of vision and depth perception to safely operate tools and equipment. Work may be performed in noisy environments or around students and staff. Contact with students, staff, parents, board members, and administrators is required. Must be available for occasional schedule changes and required weekend work (e.g., graduation or special events). Work Schedule

Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM Occasional overtime, evening, and weekend hours required for events, emergencies, or weather response. Reporting Relationship
