Educational and Experience Requirements Associates degree in business, management, finance, accounting, marketing, or a related field is required, along with three years of experience in higher education, financial services, or a similar area. Preferred qualifications include experience with financial literacy education, counseling, presentations, and organizing events or programs in a college setting. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of the Position Oversees and supports the Student Money Management peer counseling program, ensuring smooth coordination of its daily operations. Plays a key role in planning and executing educational programming, workshops, and special events hosted by the Student Money Management department.
Primary Responsibilities
Coordinate and maintain the Student Money Management (SMM) peer counseling program.
Plan and deliver presentations, workshops, and seminars on personal finance topics for the university community.
Provide one‑on‑one financial counseling to SHSU students.
Organize and lead trainings, meetings and events related to SMM.
Develop and implement services, programs, policies, promotions, and online outreach.
Manage scheduling and logistics for educational events and special initiatives.
Create and execute marketing plans to promote SMM services.
Represent the department in internal and external meetings and presentations.
Assist with drafting grant proposals and evaluating the impact of educational efforts.
Support the hiring and training of student employees.
Perform other related duties as assigned, including occasional evening and weekend work to support programming and special events.
Other Specifications
Contact students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, parents, corporate and public officials, state agencies, and the general public.
Attend workshops and conferences to improve knowledge of personal finance.
