What you’ll do
Establish and build supportive relationships with organizations and agencies in the community to promote education and prevention of child abuse.
Promote FAYS program services and provide UPCA services through educational presentations to community groups, representing Buckner and the FAYS Program at community outreach fairs.
Build supportive and nurturing relationships with clients and their families.
Provide therapeutic interaction to assist parents in regaining, building, and maintaining effective coping skills and a supportive environment for their family.
Offer crisis intervention face‑to‑face and over the phone; recommend and initiate emergency shelter placement when necessary, and document these services.
Provide follow‑up services in accordance with each client’s needs.
Answer the main phone line, receive intake and referral information, and assess youth and family needs and service appropriateness.
Provide individual, group, and family counseling for registered FAYS clients, adhering to action plans; conduct home and school visits.
Deliver youth skills training and parent skills training; organize, lead, and participate in special programs and activities designed for interactive learning.
Collaborate with clients and caregivers to develop, monitor, and review Action Plans and updates as scheduled.
Plan case closures, administer post‑surveys and satisfaction surveys, and prepare closure summary documentation; develop after‑care plans and coordinate follow‑up.
Celebrate youth and family graduation from the FAYS program at monthly parties or home visits, awarding certificates.
Maintain communication with program staff, clients, caregivers, schools, and agencies involved in a case; consult regularly with the program manager and notify immediately of emergencies.
Complete all required documentation accurately and timely, including case file forms, monthly reports, data entry, intake assessments, registration, action plans, progress notes, service logs, and discharge paperwork.
Enter and update information in the FAYS Database System, including case registrations, survey entries, closures, and follow‑ups.
What you’ll bring
In‑depth understanding of the field of social work; Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 2 years of professional experience working with families.
Proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English; Spanish proficiency preferred.
Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
Working knowledge of family therapy, family systems, crisis intervention, and resolution.
Ability to work effectively with clients and families from diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds.
Excellent listening and communication skills, including the ability to hear verbal instructions and respond over the phone.
Patience, initiative, and sound judgment while working with minimal supervision, following established program guidelines.
Willingness to travel to various locations, including overnight stays, and obtain necessary travel documentation.
