Further Triennial is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented
Marketing and Communications Coordinator
to join our team in the lead-up to the Triennial, which takes place throughout the Bay Area from March 10-June 10, 2027. During the Triennial season, museums and arts spaces across Northern California will come together to spotlight contemporary artists, share untold histories, and explore themes that uniquely highlight the region’s innovative thinking, offbeat sensibility, and artistic expression. Role The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Further marketing team to oversee all aspects of digital communications, including email marketing and social media. The role is central and critical to how we communicate with our audiences, partners, press, and other key constituents. The ideal candidate has proven experience developing and executing a creative, synergistic, and effective email marketing and social media strategy, and a strong ability to distill information into engaging content. Responsibilities Marketing and Communication Support Contribute to content strategy and development for marketing and communications initiatives across all digital channels, maintaining integrated content calendars Assist in producing and implementing initiatives across all digital channels, recommending and capitalizing on latest social media platforms and trends Collaborate with staff and consultants on the overall communications plan, sharing insights to strengthen audience engagement Ensure consistency of voice and visual identity, refining brand tone as needed Track and report on engagement metrics across email and social media platforms, recommending adjustments based on performance Email Marketing Support the development of a content-driven email strategy and calendar to build enthusiasm leading up to the Further Triennial Draft content, source and create visuals for engaging newsletters, e-blast announcements, invitations, and other communications as needed that grow awareness and drive engagement Manage timelines, approvals, and distribution through Mailchimp or similar platforms Maintain and segment email lists for targeted outreach, and track performance to optimize results Social Media Develop and maintain a social media content calendar across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, with an emphasis on Instagram Collaborate with partners to source and share content, ensuring all partners receive balanced visibility across platforms Create and coordinate engaging multimedia posts, including video and simple branded graphics Monitor engagement, respond to users, and adjust strategy based on analytics and audience feedback Work with the marketing team on influencer outreach, partnerships, and paid promotions Provide on-site social media support at key events and programs leading up to and during the Triennial Liaise with internal teams, partners, and consultants to ensure timely and accurate communications Assist in creation of digital promotional kits for distribution to network of artistic and promotional partners Participate in regular team meetings to maintain alignment across all outreach efforts Coordinate with designers and content producers to deliver marketing assets and adapt messaging to key project milestones Qualifications We are seeking a candidate who brings: 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, preferably within the arts or cultural sector Strong writing, editing, and content development skills, including the ability to copyedit Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor), social media management tools (e.g., Later, Hootsuite, Buffer), and creative collaborative tools (e.g., Airtable, Google Workspace, Slack) Experience analyzing communication metrics and adjusting strategies based on performance Ability to manage multiple deadlines and adapt to changing priorities Collaborative mindset with excellent organizational and communication skills Familiarity with contemporary art and culture and demonstrated connections with Bay Area cultural stakeholders, artists, and creative communities is a plus Qualified candidates must live in the Bay Area, be willing to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) during event production periods, travel throughout Northern California to attend and chronicle artistic partner events, hold a valid California driver’s license, and have access to a reliable personal vehicle. Mileage will be reimbursed according to organizational policy. Reporting and Compensation The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be supervised by the Marketing and Communications Director. The position is a part‑time, hybrid role that is time limited, with the number of hours increasing as the event approaches and concluding following the close of the Triennial on or about mid‑June 2027, Jan–Aug 2026: 13 hours/week at $36/hr Sept 2026–June 2027: 28 hours/week at $36/hr Part-time employees are eligible for paid sick leave and certain other statutory benefits as required by California law.
