The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing warehouse operations involving refrigerant gases and related materials, including flammable and non-flammable products. This role ensures accurate inventory control, safe handling of regulated materials, compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations, efficient shipping and receiving processes, and strong team leadership. The Warehouse Manager plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and regulatory compliance in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management
Oversee inventory control for refrigerant gases and related materials, including flammable and non‑flammable products, ensuring accurate stock levels and minimizing loss or damage
Conduct and lead physical inventory counts and cycle counts, including regulated materials
Maintain accurate documentation for regulated and hazardous inventory
Shipping, Receiving & Freight Management
Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of refrigerant gases in compliance with DOT and carrier regulations
Schedule shipments and deliveries while ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and documentation for hazardous and non‑hazardous materials
Review freight invoices from LTL carriers and match invoices to BOLs, rate quotes, and contracts
Verify freight charges include weight, class, and hazardous material or accessorial fees
Dispute billing errors and overcharges with carriers
Approve accurate freight invoices for payment
Track and analyze shipping costs to ensure cost control and regulatory compliance
Safety, Compliance & Hazardous Materials Handling
Ensure safe storage, handling, and transportation of refrigerant gases, including flammable materials
Enforce OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures related to hazardous and compressed gases
Maintain proper segregation, ventilation, signage, and emergency response readiness
Conduct safety training and ensure employees are certified and knowledgeable in hazardous materials handling
Promote a strong safety culture focused on risk prevention and regulatory compliance
Manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage for regulated material handling
Train and certify employees on forklift operation, gas cylinder handling, and emergency procedures
Monitor productivity while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards
Hold team members accountable for safe work practices
Systems, Organization & Problem Solving
Identify safety, inventory, or process gaps and implement corrective solutions
Apply strong time management and decision‑making skills in a regulated, fast‑paced environment
Leadership & Communication
Communicate effectively with operations, safety, transportation, and accounting teams
Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders regarding hazardous material requirements
Lead by example with strong attention to safety, compliance, and operational excellence
Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (degree preferred)
3+ years warehouse experience , including inventory and shipping/receiving
Previous
supervisory or lead experience
Knowledge of
DOT and OSHA regulations ; experience with hazardous materials preferred
Experience with
LTL freight , BOLs, and freight invoice review
Strong inventory skills (cycle counts, physical inventories)
Forklift certification or ability to obtain
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse environment
