Job Title: Safety and Security Officer (Armed)
Department: Facilities
Position: Non-Exempt, Full-Time
Saint Patrick Catholic School is currently seeking an Armed Safety and Security Officer to join our Facilities Team. Applicants with previous law enforcement experience are preferred. The hours for this position will be from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Monday - Friday. Additional hours may need to be filled on occasion for special events and evening/weekend activities taking place on campus.

Responsibilities
Provide campus-wide security and ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all students, personnel, and visitors on the premises
Patrol and monitor the campus, grounds, activity fields, parking lots, and other designated areas in support of maintaining a safe environment; enforce best practices and school policies
Secures premises and personnel by controlling entry and screening all visitors per school policy
Monitor surveillance and security panel alarm systems, communicate necessary information to the supervisor, and facilitate the appropriate emergency response
Assist with safety drills and audits as scheduled
Compile and submit incident reports and other daily reports as required by the supervisor
Assist with dismissal duty daily and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must be SSO or SRO Certified, OR must be certified within 60 days of hire.
Must maintain all required licenses, endorsements, training, and certifications, including, but not limited to, basic first aid, AED, CPR training, Virginia School Security Officer (SSO) Certification, etc.
General knowledge of practices concerning the protection of school buildings and grounds
Ability to recognize and identify activities or situations that have or may become a problem or emergency requiring immediate attention
Ability to think and act quickly, effectively, and responsibly during an emergency; excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Strong ability to provide a very high level of customer service to the school and community.
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods
Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, climb stairs, bend, crouch, crawl, stoop, and run
Authorized to work in the United States
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required, some college preferred
At least two years of experience in law enforcement or the security field
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications
