Job Summary Based on the recent Proclamation: Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H-1B), VSU will not sponsor any new H-1B visa petitions until further notice. The Department of Psychological Science seeks applicants for a tenure‑track assistant professor position beginning August 1, 2026. The candidate will teach courses in their area of expertise, maintain scholarly productivity, and participate in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Responsibilities Teaching a 4/4 load during the academic year (Fall and Spring); maintaining scholarly productivity; and participating in on‑campus service at the department, college, and university levels.

Typical Allocation of Duties:

Teaching and scholarship:

80% – Teaches classes and conducts/presents research in the employee's discipline.

Service:

20% – Participates in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Cognitive or Experimental Psychology from a regionally accredited university by appointment date.

Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship.

A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience with assessment-related activities (program-level or course-level) and implementation of APA Guidelines for the Undergraduate Psychology Major.

Face‑to‑face classroom teaching experience and previous online teaching experience.

Preference for candidates with experience teaching Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Sensation and Perception, or Statistical Methods in Psychology.

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.

A record of mentoring students.

Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience.
