Overview The Autism Resource Specialist will report to the Program Supervisor and work closely with the Autism Navigator. The ARS engages families accessing services within the Mercy Kids Autism Center (MKAC), assisting with intake for evaluation, communicating with families whose children have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, and collaborating with community providers to share service information.
Responsibilities
Engage families in service and treatment planning.
Conduct follow-up calls to families receiving a new diagnosis of ASD.
Maintain print materials from community providers to facilitate referral information.
Engage in high-level communication with a multidisciplinary team of diagnostic providers.
Maintain accurate documentation of service planning.
Develop department print material regarding services provided within MKAC.
Identify and support families needing assistance with intake processes, including, but not limited to, 1:1 facilitation with non-English speaking caregivers.
Position Details Full-Time position Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm; no weekends, calls, or major holidays.
Minimum Requirements
Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred. Preferred areas of study in human services, including social work, education, psychology, community health, or related field, and a minimum of 1-year direct care experience.
Experience: Familiarity with special education systems, behavioral health, developmental disabilities, case management, accessing applied behavior analysis, child development, working with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, use of electronic health record and Microsoft Office, strong written and verbal communication skills.
