Title: Specialist II, Safety & Health (EHS)
Reports to: Manager, EHS

Summary Focus on improving SH&E at the facility by using your experience to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control hazards in the workplace and engage employees in the development of a strong SH&E culture. Evaluate workplace compliance with regard to local, state and federal regulations. Functions as an expert resource to teams for consistent implementation of company SH&E standards and programs. Performs jobsite auditing and conducts incident investigation. Conducts inspections and ensures compliance with applicable SH&E regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Worked in one or more plant-wide safety, health and/or environmental programs
ISO 14001 certification process and lead the Environmental Compliance Team to drive continuous improvement in all environmental programs
Ensure hazard identification and mitigation for plant operations and administrative offices
Conduct daily line walks to ensure SH&E practices are being observed and to note any at‑risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, faulty equipment or non‑compliance with any SH&E related policies/regulations
Ensure timely communication of safety issues/concerns to department leadership
Lead cross‑functional teams to drive improvements across the organization
Participate in incident investigations and track corrective actions
Conduct new equipment reviews, mechanical risk assessments and ergonomic risk assessments
Participate in emergency response drills and critiques
Conduct new hire orientation, contractor safety and other SH&E related training topics
Develop/update site specific programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
Communicate with LGESMI SH&E colleagues around the globe
Maintain cleanliness at work‑site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering or related field; MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
Professional certification (ASP/CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred
Experience
3‑6 years of experience in SH&E programs in a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated cross‑functional work experience
Experience with ISO 14001:2015 certification
Skills
MS Office Suite
Strong written and verbal communications skills
Problem solving and analytical skills
Strong knowledge of and experience working with OSHA, EPA and state/local regulations and requirements
Knowledge in advanced manufacturing technology (automation), chemicals, and electrical safety is a plus
Must be comfortable working in a team setting
Skill in analyzing and evaluating technical data, test results, and reports
Positive attitude, self‑driven, strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing goals
Excellent organizational, communication, and computer skills
Ability to work flexible hours occasionally
