Summary National Park College (NPC) seeks a dynamic and experienced Athletic Director to provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight for a thriving NJCAA athletics program. The Athletic Director is responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the department, ensuring full compliance with NJCAA regulations, managing personnel and budgets, and driving fundraising initiatives that support the growth and success of NPC student-athletes. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to the mission, values, and academic priorities of the College.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Athletics Program Leadership

Provide overall direction, supervision, and evaluation for all NPC athletic programs.

Develop and implement short- and long-term initiatives that promote competitive success, academic achievement, and student-athlete wellbeing.

Foster a culture of integrity, sportsmanship, and excellence among coaches, staff, and student-athletes.

Represent Nighthawk Athletics within the College community and with external stakeholders.

NJCAA Compliance, Eligibility, and Reporting

Ensure full compliance with all NJCAA, Region 2, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.

Oversee eligibility certification for all student-athletes, including academic monitoring, documentation, and timely submissions.

Maintain accurate records and submit NJCAA rosters, reports, incident documentation, and audits, including the annual EADA report.

Provide training and guidance to coaches and staff on compliance standards and updates.

Personnel Management

Recruit, hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor full-time and part-time athletics staff, including coaches, trainers, and support personnel.

Promote professional development, positive team culture, and department-wide accountability.

Coordinate staff scheduling, workload assignments, and adherence to institutional HR policies.

Budget and Fiscal Management

Develop and oversee annual budgets for all athletic programs in alignment with institutional priorities.

Monitor expenditures, authorize purchasing, and ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency within the department.

Work closely with the College’s finance office to manage accounts, scholarships, travel, equipment, and facility needs.

Seek opportunities to maximize resources and improve operational efficiency.

Fundraising and External Relations

Lead fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, sponsorship development, and special events.

Collaborate with the NPC Foundation and community partners to secure financial support for scholarships, facilities, and program enhancements.

Strengthen community engagement and promote Nighthawk Athletics through marketing, outreach, and public relations efforts.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the athletics program in media and campus communications.

Required Skills / Abilities

Ability to provide leadership to the entire athletics program.

Ability to make decisions and use good judgement.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in sports administration, education, or a related field preferred.

Experience working within intercollegiate athletics administration, preferably at the NJCAA or NCAA level.

Demonstrated knowledge of NJCAA compliance, eligibility, and reporting procedures.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Experience with budgeting, fundraising, and staff supervision.

Physical Requirements

Long periods of standing, walking, sitting at a computer.

Ability to lift at least 25 pounds.

Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be loud during events.

Overnight travel could be required.
