Primary Purpose of the Department of Athletics The Department of Athletics exists to provide educational and athletic opportunities to young men and women, to create an environment for student‑athletes to learn, advance and excel academically and athletically, and to serve the interests of the University by complementing its diversity and quality of life. The department promotes educating and inspiring through athletics and supports administrators, coaches, staff members and student‑athletes in delivering a premier inter‑collegiate athletic program for UNC.
Position Summary Assist the head coach with all aspects of the Men's Soccer program including practice and competition activities, player skill development, recruiting, directing and implementing plans for daily practices and competitions, organizing and administering clinics, and overall administrative tasks within the operation of the program. Candidates must demonstrate integrity, leadership, a strong commitment and ability to motivate, teach, counsel, and recruit academically qualified students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) with at least 1 year of experience in relevant independent instructional or educational activities. Specific minimum experience is at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
2‑5 years of coaching experience in an intercollegiate environment, preferably at a Division I level.
Knowledge of and familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations.
Good organizational, interpersonal communication and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Prefer at least 1 year in relevant independent or educational activities.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements Must be able to lift/move 25 lbs or greater. May be required to navigate stairs. Attention to detail essential. Must manage a high volume, fast‑paced environment. May work in extreme weather conditions. Travel required.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
