Aviation Maintenance Lab Technician
Kansas State University’s Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina seeks a dedicated Aviation Maintenance Laboratory Technician to provide valuable support to Aviation Maintenance Program faculty and students.
About This Role Assist the aviation maintenance program in day‑to‑day operations, maintain shop and ground support equipment, build aviation‑related training aids, oversee monitor tool room operations, provide supplemental teaching, maintain a clean and organized educational environment, perform maintenance on aircraft and equipment, and demonstrate actions guided by our Core Values.
About Us K‑State Salina’s aviation maintenance program produces students who will become aerospace industry leaders in advanced aviation sustainment systems, aftermarket and business sales, safety, and quality. The program uses a practical learning environment and a laboratory setting to focus on the application of aviation science and technology by serving, inspecting, maintaining, and operating all different types of aircraft and propulsion systems.
Worksite Option This position is onsite.
What You’ll Need to Succeed Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree and one year of relevant experience (education equivalency may be considered).
FAA Mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant ratings (A&P).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an aviation‑related discipline.
Master’s degree in aviation or a related field.
Current or previous Designated Mechanic Examiner (DME).
Inspection Authorization (IA).
Collegiate level Part 147 teaching experience.
Avionics experience.
Previous airline, corporate, or military aircraft maintenance experience.
Experience
Proficient computer skills such as MS Office, CAD, ATP Navigator/ATP.
Other Requirements
Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs and use ladders, stands, lifts, etc.
Must not have any conditions that preclude certification of aircraft or vehicle run/taxi.
