Job Summary
This role is responsible for supporting the installation, termination, and maintenance of security systems and low voltage infrastructure. The Security Technician I assists with setting up devices such as cameras, maglocks, card readers, and related equipment while ensuring all work meets quality, safety, and industry standards. This position is suitable for individuals beginning their career in security installation and offers growth opportunities and continued technical training.
Job Responsibilities
Install security systems, including cameras, maglocks, and card readers
Perform access control installation tasks
Install and terminate low voltage cabling (22/4, 20/4, CAT5e, CAT6)
Terminate CAT5e and CAT6 cabling and ensure proper testing when applicable
Dress and route cable from IT closets to device locations
Assist with building and organizing security equipment racks
Install cable pathways such as J-hooks and D-rings
Perform cable management, including dressing and labeling
Read and follow blueprints and installation documents
Communicate professionally with colleagues and supervisors
Follow required safety guidelines and protocols, including proper PPE usage and maintaining a clean jobsite
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED
0-2 years of commercial security installation experience
OSHA 10 certification preferred
Ability to work on ladders and scissor lifts, in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds
Ability to stand and work on feet for the duration of the shift
Basic hand tools required: multi-bit screwdriver, tape measure, snips, needle-nose pliers, channel-lock pliers, punch-down tool, flashlight, work boots (steel or composite toe), gloves, and tool pouch
