General Maintenance Technician II Overview
Join our team at the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD), Office of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (OIDD) where we are dedicated to providing compassionate and accessible care to our community. Location
Whitten Regional Center, an Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF‑IID) located in Clinton, SC. Compensation
This position is eligible for an on‑call premium of $1.50 per hour, plus compensation for any time called back to work. Responsibilities
Use hand power tools to maintain equipment, requiring heavy and bulky lifting. Repair and maintain roofing, guttering, and attic ventilation. Use skills as locksmith to repair, replace, install, and re‑key locks and locking devices. Cut keys from blanks and make keys from keying formulas. Re‑key locks to Whitten Center Master System. Use ladder, scaffold and bucket lift truck to replace burned out or broken incandescent fluorescent or high‑pressure sodium light bulbs. Clean fixtures and cover while servicing fixtures. Replace broken glass, mirrors and plexiglass. Remove broken glass fragments from windows, doors and frames. Measure for replacement and cut replacement from stock. Install new glass using glazing putty. Measure and order special glass, plexiglass and mirrors. Perform sheet rock, ceiling and floor tiling repair. Work with heavy and bulky items such as doors, partitions and other rough work. Replace, repair, or build and install shelving, cabinetry, TV/console cases, doors, windows, mirrors, hand soap dispensers, blinds/shades, floor tiles, handrails, chairs, moldings and casings. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications
High school education or equivalent. Trades experience directly related to the area of employment. Valid driver’s license. Experience in carpentry/locks. General knowledge of all types of locking devices, including door entry, passage sets, panic devices, cabinet locks and padlocks. Familiarity with Whitten Center’s Corbin Master Key System. Ability to measure and cut all types of glass. General knowledge of carpentry, masonry, painting, sheetrock and ceiling systems. Good communication skills (oral and written). Ability to maintain records of materials needed and used. Benefits
