Work Schedule The Student-Athlete Academic Center (SAAC) Peer Tutors will provide tutoring during our normal hours of operation, based on tutor's availability.
FALL/SPRING SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 8:00pm Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm Saturday: Closed Sunday: 1:00pm - 7:00pm
SUMMER SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 8:00pm Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm Saturday: Closed Sunday: Closed
Temporary Disclosure As a temporary employee, you will not be eligible to participate in all employee benefit programs (e.g., paid leave, retirement, or tuition reimbursement).
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), a temporary employee who works on average 30 hours or more per week may be eligible to enroll in health care benefits. As a temporary employee, you are also eligible to enroll in supplemental plans (e.g. dental, vision,) which requires full payment on your part.

At least a B+ in the courses assigned to tutor or an Advance Placement score of 5
Minimum overall 3.2 GPA
High reliability, good interpersonal communication skills, and ease in relating with students from varying education, cultural, and social backgrounds
Verbal and written communication and follow-through
Requires prior completion of FIU Service Excellence training or completion within first 30 days
Job Summary The student athlete academic center is currently seeking a temporary peer tutor to join their team of professionals. Duties include:
Discuss learning, test-taking and study strategies while assisting with course work assignments and questions
Complete session feedback at the completion of each tutoring session
Assist student-athletes with composing study guides
Facilitate review sessions during midterm and finals exams and/or as needed based on course
Maintain up to date student caseload folders with upcoming assignments, quizzes, and grades
Maintain familiarity with all existing SAAC and campus resources and refer student-athletes as appropriate
Communicate with Academic Coordinators, Tutoring Coordinator and SAAC Staff as needed based on the progress of student-athletes
Follow and uphold FIU academic honesty policies and procedures, NCAA and C-USA policies and Procedures
Must check FIU email and SAAC tutor mailbox for communications and must attend and participate in mandatory SAAC meetings
Responsible for completing projects as assigned by the Tutor Coordinator or SAAC staff member
Must attend an initial Orientation and training meeting
