Great Oaks Legacy Charter School is seeking dynamic, mission‑aligned educators to join our team as High School Special Education Teachers for the 2024‑25 academic year. Role Overview
Teachers at Great Oaks Legacy Charter School prepare each student for college success through rigorous instruction while maintaining consistently high expectations. Teachers model hard work, a desire for learning, and character. Reporting Relationship
Teachers report to the School Director(s) and receive regular coaching and support from instructional coaches and Academic Deans. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Demonstrate solid knowledge and understanding of the content matter. Establish, communicate, and demand high expectations for student learning and quality of work. Use a multitude of instructional strategies and activities that are academically rigorous and highly engaging. Execute detailed lesson plans mapped to a year‑long academic plan. Respond continually to students’ learning needs. Communicate the importance of the work and support student persistence. Track and analyze student data to identify learning needs and set ambitious, attainable goals. Plan and implement strategies to achieve student learning outcomes. Collaborate with School Director and other teachers to develop and revise curriculum based on assessment data. Build relationships with students that demonstrate an open concern and responsibility for their academic and personal growth. Maintain an efficient, respectful, and positive classroom tone. Use time to maximize learning and communicate urgency. Ensure all students are on task during lessons. Enforce and emphasize school rules, values, and expectations. Supervise students during lunch and transition periods. Utilize skills, talents, and effort to contribute to student and school success. Assume additional responsibilities when necessary and demonstrate leadership. Make frequent phone calls to keep parents informed of successes and struggles. Maintain an orderly school culture. Attend professional development sessions. Perform other duties necessary to fulfill the school’s mission. Qualifications
Relentless work ethic and belief that all students can succeed. Bachelor’s degree from a competitive college or university; GPA meets NJ DOE certification minimums. Demonstrated mastery of content knowledge and ability to drive student growth. Prior teaching experience in an urban “No Excuses” school setting strongly preferred. Extremely strong classroom management abilities. Evidence of NJ Department of Education certification (CE/CEAS/Provisional/Standard) or equivalent out‑of‑state certification. Experience developing curriculum or potential to lead curricular development preferred. Compensation & Benefits
