Assistant Professor of Practice in Science Teacher Education Position Type: Full‑time, 9‑month, begins August 20th, 2026.

Position Description The teacher education department in the College of Education at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month Assistant Professor of Practice in Science Teacher Education. The position serves as a collaborator with the Science Faculty Anchor to support course refinement based on changing state and national policies, assist with instructor coordination, engage in science program‑based research, and partnership activities with schools and the underserved West Texas community. The teaching load for this position is 4/4, i.e., four courses per semester.

Key Responsibilities Key areas of responsibility include data‑informed program refinement, partnership and stakeholder engagement, and research involvement. This position involves working closely with the Department Chair, TED Faculty Anchors, Professional Development Facilitators, Site Coordinators and Lecturers to support the science program and contribute to the department's mission.

Faculty Qualifications

A conferred doctorate by September 1, 2026 from a major accredited university in Science Education or a related field.

Strong science content knowledge at the K‑12 level.

At least 3‑year experience teaching secondary science.

At least 2‑year experience developing and sustaining outreach activities and partnerships with K‑12 schools, districts, or community organizations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in science teacher preparation, such as teaching instructional methods courses for science teacher candidates and coordinating field teaching practica.

Evidence of participation in research activities, such as presenting at national or international research conferences or authoring publications.

Experience with leading or substantively contributing to external grant proposals (e.g., NSF, NIH), such as narrative drafting, collaborator coordination, and submission.

Experience in data analysis and in data‑driven course instruction and educational innovation.

Job Details Job Group: Non‑Tenure track.

Pay Basis: Monthly. Pay Statement: Compensation commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.

Duty Point: TTU Lubbock, main campus and affiliated facilities.

Travel Required: None.

Grant Funded: No.

Salary Grade: 800.
